iMovie will not let me recored a voice over

When I press the record button i get the count down to record.


I speak into the microphone (internal mic selected)

when I stop and play back there is nothing.

I am able to use my internal microphone and speaker for other things like ZOOM calls etc.


help please...

Hi, shankateryan,


Go to System Preferences/Security and Privacy/Privacy/Microphone. Unlock, sign in, and Add iMovie to the box. That should cure it.

Would you explain how you got the iMovie app into the microphone box? Was it already there, and you only had to put a check mark next to the iMovie icon? Or did you copy and paste, or drag, the iMovie app icon into the box? Mine is already in there but since I had no involvement in putting it there I thought I would ask how you did it.
