iPhone 5s restore if linked to an existing apple ID/password

Picked up an iphone 5s at a salvage store it is wiped but is still linked to an apple ID and password is there a way to get around that so I can enter my apple ID?

Get your money back if possible.

Turn off Activation Lock - Apple Support

There is no way to defeat activation lock.

Ok thanks, I have seen on YouTube some solutions kind of involved process though.
