Count-in at tempo change

Far from ideal, I know, but the workaround I use to do this:

• I use Klopfgeist with manually added "clicks*" together with a blank audio track. *For instance a C2 on beat 1, and a C1 on beats 2, 3, 4. Logic's own clicktrack should be off.
• I bounce a Klopfgeist region of one bar from the "new" tempo/signature and paste it in the audio region and make sure the end of the region matches the beginning of the tempo/signature change point
• On the Klopfgeist-track the last bar of the "old" tempo should be empty

I understand. I often deal with the same kind of complex compositions. Even with different time signatures on different tracks. Something far from obvious in Logic.

I tested this out on a LPX project and was able to get the count-in to work at the appropriate tempo changes depending on if I started recording before or after the tempo change. You can see where I changed the tempo in the picture below. Not sure why it isn't working for you.

You want the metronome to count-in at the tempo change of the next bar? I don't think this is possible given the current implementation of the metronome/click in Logic. Tempo is a global setting and the count-in happens before the tempo change on the timeline.

I understand what you're looking for and there are more complex use cases like time signature changes...

One quick approach is to create a Software Instrument track with the Klopfgeist instrument on it. Create a MIDI region where the tempo changes (Exactly 1 or 2 bars as desired). Edit the region in the Piano Roll and add notes on the beats. You get a MIDI click at the desired tempo. Bounce in Place the region on a new audio track You then get an audio click region at the desired tempo. Here is the trick:

Open the region in the Audio File editor (or the Project Browser). You can see a small anchor icon at the bottom. Move it at right end of the region.

In the Main Window, move the region so the end of the region aligns exactly with where the tempo change happens. Now you have an audio count-in at the desired tempo change. Just deactivate the Metronome Count-In.

The same strategy can be used for more complex use cases like time signature changes.

You're right Wilddrums - I misunderstood the question; tempo is a global setting. Another possible work around in addition to your suggestion would be to set the tempo change back a bar so that the Count-in starts with the new tempo. Once you get your clip recorded, you can move the tempo adjustment back to where you actually want it.
