2019 Mac Pro + Apple LED Cinema = Sound & Vision?

If I connect my 24" Apple LED Cinema Display to a 2019 Mac Pro as described in "Connect a display to Mac Pro", will Display Audio work?

That display connects with mini DisplayPort. The "heartbeat" refresh (sending the entire screen dat every 60th second) is removed, and a less time-sensitive packet interface is used to send display data and sound data over the same data pathways. There is nothing "left disconnected" or left out of the interface, so it should produce sound as well.

NB>> the Apple ThunderBolt-3 <--> Thunderbolt-2 adapter is the WRONG tool for the job. It does not pass DisplayPort alone, only genuine ThunderBolt.
