I have both Catalina and Mojave on one disk. I prefer to keep Mojave. Can I just delete the Catalina volume labelled Macintosh HD?

Deleting Catalina installer After upgrading to big Sur, I had second though to reinstall Catalina. But after seeing the performance gain, I decided to stick with Big Sur. However, I can seem to delete and empty the trash containing the Catalina installer file. I don't boot to Safe Mode, since I try using diskutil commands and it didn't help since the behaviour of disk mount etc has changed in Big Sur. I just find quite annoying that Apple engineers are so lazy that they will make such a mess with this. On one hand Catalina installer can't be opend on Mac and yet I can permanently delete it from Trash. What sort of idiocracy is this...

I installed catalina then downgraded to mojave using time machine backup. Now I have a second drive Macintosh HD data on my machine. Can I delete this? I installed Catalina and decided I did not want it, then downgraded to Mojave using a Time Machine backup. Now I have a second volume on my desktop called "Macintosh HD - Data", which appears to be a Catalina created volume. How do I get rid of this if I no longer want Catalina and do not want Time Machine backing up this volume too ? (it appears Time Machine is backing up twice my original volume size).

Then you would need to remove Macintosh HD and Macintosh HD - Data to remove Catalina.

Good luck. I've never seen anyone do this.

I named the Mojave volume Mojave, so I have one volume named Macintosh HD.
