Not been charged

On Thursday 27th March I bought myself a new MacBook Air off the Apple website I payed through Apple Pay as it was quick and online. Straight after I paid I got a confirmation email saying my order was being processed. Although it’s now the 31st and no money has been taken out of my account. I tried calling up but due to the Coronavirus outbreak I was only able to talk to a robot, the voice told me that they couldn’t help me with my order or locating it. Did Apple place my order? Am I waiting for something that isn’t coming? I don’t know if I should wait until the 17th April (items due date) or place another order? Can anyone help?

The normal process is for your charge card, or in this case your Apple Pay to be charged at the time of shipping. Reports indicate shipping is slower than normal.

As a rule, you won't be charged until the item is ready to ship. That's true of virtually all online retailers in the US thanks to regulations put in place several years ago.
