Thank you, but —That would only work if the person I’m sending it to is an Apple user! What if I’m scanning documents that I need to send to an insurance company or any other non-Apple user?

I just had the same issue.

I scanned 4 pages into an email via the “Scan Document” feature on iPad Mail. The file size was 41Mb.

I scanned the same 4 pages into iPad Notes and the file size ended up being 3 Mb.

Why is there such a difference in file size for the same scanned document depending in which app it was scanned? Is this a bug or can resolution of scanned documents be changed?

WORK AROUND: In order to email the document, I “Saved to Files” the document that I scanned in Notes and then attached it to the email.

That is also what I was trying to do. I was trying to send 4 pages scanned from within the mail app and without leaving the mail app. It wouldn’t work because the resulting scanned document ended up being 41 Mb. I had to use the “Notes workaround” to get the documents emailed.

Scanning documents from within the mail app is broken.
