Signing in to app store

After changing my password on my iPad, ITunes and App Store will not recognise my new password and consequently I cannot download apps. I have tried using my old passwords as well but nothing is being recognised. I would really appreciate any help on this - I am a very ‘mature’ lady so would appreciate nothing too technical! Many thanks in advance.
