Correct, connect your iPod to your computer and select "Podcasts" to synchronize. If you do not see Podcasts as a synchronization option then it could be that your iPod classic does not support Podcasts.
What is your iPod's exact model number?
That is for ipod touch, not ipod classic. my ipod is old, pre-touch.
