Screen time password

I set up a screen time password for my kid on their iPhone SE but it doesn’t seem to be working. I set up downtime, but when I select the affected apps, I can still get into them without using the password; it just says the same thing it would without a screen time password. Is there anything I could do to get rid of this problem?
