ringtone volume is low

In Settings > Sounds & Haptics I have set Ringers and Alerts to max volume.

Under Ringtone I select Reflection and it volume is high.

When I call, the ringtone for the first 5 to 15 notes are OK, but the remaining playback volume is maybe 33% of what it should be.

Do I have a problem with my one week old iPhone 11 and do I need to take it to an Apple Store?

Or should I be able to exchange it at the T-Mobile store I bought it from?

BTW I went to the T-Mobile store and the sales person didn't know what the problem was.

TIA

That's normal, it's by design, and I appreciate that feature. But if you don't want your phone to have that behavior, go to Settings>Accessibility>Face ID & Attention and turn off Attention Aware Features

Giulio,

That fixed the problem! Much appreciated!

I could see it as a feature, but I think this should be turned off by default. As a new iPhone user, it was very frustrating. I asked some old veterans of iPhone users, but none with Face ID phones, so they could not help me.

Regards,

Bruce

My pleasure, Bruce :-)

Yes, those who're not using Face Recognition never encountered that "unfamiliar" behavior, but I think it can be useful (respectful for other people) when you look at the iPhone while it's ringing (and that's normal if the device is close to you).

Have a nice day.

Giulio
