Can't backUp iPhone to install latest version

I am trying to backup iPhone so I can upgrade to latest version.

There is no device listed in the iTunes Devices preferences (Where back Ups are displayed)

iTunes is displaying that the iPhone has never been backup to the computer.

Launch backup via iTunes... error iTunes can not backup the iPhone because the backup was corrupt. Delete the backup for this iPhone in devices preferences and try again.

No backup is listed in devices preferences... no backup possible !!!!

I am simply trying to update iPhone (7s) so I can migrate to new iPhone 11

SO FRUSTRATING

Try If you can't back up your iOS or iPadOS device to a computer or restore it from a backup - Apple Support.
