I have entered my Apple ID numerous times, and I always get your username or password is incorrect, and my watch defaults to the failed screen, that same username and password work for everything else

Have you just bought the watch off somebody?,if so then the watch may be asking for the apple id of the person you bought it off which means it's activation locked.
