I can not update and restore my old phone because i don't remember the passcode. itunes will not let me restore it without the proper update but i can not update said phone without getting into it. Is my phone a lost cause?

You don't update you put it in recovery mode and restore it to factory setting as stated in this link:


If you forgot the passcode for your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, or your device is disabled - Apple Support
