how do I choose which photo library to repair? When I use the steps highlighted, it doesn't give me an option to select the library I want

I am trying to repair an older photos library. But when I hold down command+Option and open photos, it just asks if I want to repair my current library. Is there a way to repair the old one that won't open?

Mac mini, macOS 10.15

Try it this way:

  • Quit Photos , if it is running
  • Make sure, you have a current backup copy of the library you want to repair
  • Hold down command+Option and then double click the Photos Library you want to repair, not the Photos.app.

Your Photos Library should be on a supported volume, when you are running Catalina. Photos 5.0 cannot work well with a library, if it is on a volume used for Time machine backups or accessed over the network.
