Why do I have to have a credit card on my account in order to use the App Store

Does anybody else have a problem downloading something from the App Store unless you have a credit card on file

appstore whenever i try to download an app it makes me verify a credit card. Why do i have to have a credit card on my phone in order to download apps out of nowhere?

A credit card is not always required. But whatever information is on file must be current and correct.

I have a credit card that is current and everything I have no money in my account I remove my credit card from my account and it will not allow me to download anything from the App Store
