External Drive is working but my Mac doesn't show hard's icon on the desktop

Hi Dear. I have problem after last up date for mac book pro (Catalina 10.15.2). I cant have my external hard on my mac. my device is working but my mac doesn't show hard's Icon on the desk top.

My disk is showing as mounted in DisK Utility and I also ran the first aid it was fine. I have also checked the preferences in finder and ex.hard drive box is ticked?!? Really confused. If anyone could help that would be amazing because I am currently having to drag GB's of photos to edit and transfer from my hard drive to desktop and my laptop is brand new but only has so much space!!

external hard drive Hi, my external hard drive is not showing up on my MacBook Air and Mac Mini both M1, latest software installed. using thunderbolt connection, Hard drive light comes on but doesn't show on desktop. tried my old external hard drives and samething not showing up. older harries are usb to thunderbolt cord, any help appreciated thank you.

External Hard Drive Doesn't Disappear My external hard drive does not disappear from my MacBook desktop after I eject and remove it. The files are not viewable, and the hard drive is not in finder, but the icon stays on my desktop and I can't remove it. Any suggestions?

In Finder, look at the menu bar. Click on Finder, Preferences, General and select 'external drives'
