Bought an Apple Watch from a guy who is now refusing to unpair it from his Apple account

I just bought a new Apple Watch from a guy and he is now refusing to unpair his watch from his Apple account. If I have proof of the text messages is there a way for Apple to reset it so I can use the watch?

Apple cannot assist you. Only the person who's phone is paired to the Watch can remove the Activation Lock. You need to work with him, or the Watch is useless to you.
