My MacBook Pro 16" has a very loud fan and heats up very quickly (5 mins or less) on flat non obstructed surfaces while web browsing (nothing heavy duty)
Is this normal?
My 2013 15.6" still does not do that under the same conditions.

Looking at the trend of questions I kept switching off the 3rd party programs till the situation settled.
In the end it was Parallels which was causing the issue.
I have been using the devices exactly the same but for some reason if I keep the program running in the background the MacBook Pro 16" starts sounding like a vacuum cleaner
third-party anti-Virus scanner, dropbox, google drive, or any other web-based file backup/storage?
are you using an external display as well?
