I purchased a new 21.5 iMac with 16 Ram and 1TB SSD Hard Drive. The computerese's a little slow at times and I wanted to check the hardware to see if the hard drive was SSD???? How do I do that???? I can see the RAM

Check the System Information app that is pre-installed on the computer. Click Hardware - Storage and that will let you know. You can get to System Information easily by opening Spotlight and typing System Information.

To follow up on rkaufmann's sage advice, here is what System Information shows for my 1TB Apple SSD in a 2017 iMac 5K. You can select "NVMExpress" from the contents list to get more a few more details than "Storage" shows:
A good way to see what might be making it slow, is to run EtreCheckPro and post back here with the Report.
