I had the same problem months ago. I have asked to staff in an Apple store. I was told it could be related to the discontinuation of iTunes by Apple... I was advised to look at what people say on users forum to find solutions...

I hope someone is going to bring a solution because when I bought my IPod Classic I aspired to make it last for VERY LONG in a sustainability philosophy.

Thanks in advance in anyone could help to make it possible again to load new music in the IPod Classic.

Do you have a Mac that you've upgraded to macOS 10.15 Catalina? If not then iTunes remains the same for you and the changes there are irrelevant. If you're running Catalina then you may find that your iPod needs to be restored before Catalina is able to work with it, particularly if it is still in the default FAT32 format.
