Ipod 5

I have an Ipod touch 5th generation that won't respond to anything. I've tried charging it and it won't charge. When you go to turn it on the black screen w/ the apple logo will appear but nothing happens after that. What do i need to do to get this to work. It was working fine yesterday and after the battery died it hasn't worked since.
