Hello Colette6300,

At this current time the "Messages" app on iPhone doesn't support the ability to export a message or group message thread to a file.

There might be third party message apps that do support this, but this is up to the developer to add that type of feature to their app.

I can however say that there is third party apps for Windows & Mac operating system that can work with your iPhone and allow you to backup, print, export messages to your computer so you have more control over them. However these apps generally cost money. Some offer you a "trial" version, however its generally to show you what the App can do. In order to unlock all the features it will generally require you to purchase the app.

I personally use iMazing. However there are tons of other options out there, so in no way am I endorsing them, its just an option i'm throwing out there. I'm sure our fellow community can offer more options for you.

You can submit feedback to Apple and ask them to add the ability to save, export, print messages within iOS. This will at least notify Apple that someone out there wants this feature so they can track the number of requests that come in. And who knows, it may or may not end up in a future OS update. https://www.apple.com/feedback/
