AirPods Pro will not connect to MacBook Pro after update- error rejected

Trying to connect AirPods pros to my MacBook Pro- I am getting the message- can't connect to the device or connection rejected. Any ideas?

The first thing to check is the operating system version on your Mac. MacOS Catalina 10.15.1 or greater is required.
