With the new Music app in Catalina on my iMac, every time I time a search term in the search area, Music defaults to the Apple Music Store. I don't want to search the store; I want to search my Library... music I already have. How the heck do I do this?
Why do upgrades often make the interfaces less user friendly (I ask rhetorically)?

Thanks, that is working for now (not persistent meaning sometimes it isn't available?).
Seems like a very clumsy change to the interface. Again, my rhetorical two cents: often updates make an interface worse, less intuitive, clunkier... sometimes not, but here is a clear example.

No, not persistent as in it will disappear if you switch from one playlist or library section to another, or when you restart Music.

When clicking inside the 'search' field, Music on my iMac also defaults to Apple Music - I simply click on 'Your Library' and it will search there.
Seems that Apple thinks users more often want to search for music within Apple Music itself, but it is easy enough to make sure it is searching within your own library.
View > Show Filter Field. Annoyingly this option isn't persistent.
