Google maps not working

I just bought an iPhone 11 pro from Hong kong & using it in India. While setting it up, I installed google maps and tried navigating. what I noticed that it did not show any names of cities, areas, or even countries in the map. It was just bare maps. Also, after 6-7 secs, the app would freeze and not do anything. I had to reinstall the app 6-8 times but same problem persists. I even updated the ios to the latest.
