Airport: how to see who is on the network

I still use Apple's Airport hardware due to its usability and functionality. A pity Apple decided to terminate this simple eco-system.

My question is how can I see who is on my network?

Devices, their MAC address?

Thank you.

I use an app called LanScan from the MacApp Store. Its free

for the basic use you are looking for but does have in app

purchase for the "Pro" version which adds a lot of detail which

you likely won't need.

You will get a list of all assigned iP Addresses, MAC addresses, Host names

(if they have one) and a manufacturer (who ever the MAC address belongs

to). There are also additional items listed if available (mDNS, SMB, etc.)

Open AirPort Utility on your Mac.........(Finder > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility)

Click on the picture of the AirPort router

Look for Wireless Clients.

Devices might be displayed as their device name, their MAC Address, or their IP address. No way to control how a device is displayed.

Apple does not provide a means to display any devices that might be connected to the Airport router using a wired Ethernet cable connection.

If you have an iPhone or iPad, you may get more useful information using a third party App like Fing. More details here:
