Loading music to the Apple Music App on Apple Watch 5

I have an iPhone, but want to play my music from Apple Watch 5 independent from my iPhone. This is especially desirable for trail running. My music library lives on iTunes and the content was imported from CDs. Is it possible to export an iTunes playlist to the Apple Music App on my Apple Watch 5 with or without having to subscribe to Apple Music streaming service?
