Notes have completely disappeared.

Updated my 2014 macbook pro to Catalina a few weeks ago. Woke up this morning and discovered my notes had completely disappeared. Years of important passwords, codes, reminders, etc. just gone. As if I had completely deleted them all last night. Is there any way to get them back? I have no iCloud backups and I don't understand what I'm supposed to do after searching the ~Library folder. There was seemingly no way to restore them once I got in the notes folder. Please let me know what to do I'm so screwed if I can't get my notes back this is ridiculous.

MacBook Pro 15", macOS 10.15

Are you logged in to iCloud?

If not, and your notes are in iCloud, or if you are logged but Notes is unchecked, that would explain why they are not showing.
