Freeing up space on my phone

I would like To free up space on my iPhone by deleting videos and pictures. I see that when I do that those pictures and videos are also delete it from my iCloud storage. Is it possible to Delete the pictures and videos on my phone and at the same time keep them in the cloud storage account?
