Dual sim

I have an iPhone XR that is supposed to have a dual sim tray. I am trying to add a second card and it doesn’t work. Do you have to get a special tray from apple?

You can only install one SIM in the phone, the other is already built in.

Only models sold in China, Hong Kong, and Macau will have dual SIM slots. Others will have one eSIM, one Nano SIM.

The eSIM is built into the phone, and not user accessible.
