Thank you. Its what I suspected. A friend bought a Apple Watch series 3 but we can’t get it to work with her IPhone 6. It keeps telling us to update the phone but it’s already at 12.4.3. Oh well, looks like the watch is going to be returned.

If you buy an Apple Watch Series 3 new, it will most likely run the latest watchOS 6, which requires iOS 13 on the iPhone, and the aging (over 5 year) old iPhone 6 cannot support iOS 13, as the phone doesn't have enough RAM for iOS 13.


Either return the watch or buy a newer iPhone model first.
