Plan with carrier that allows you to use cellular data on the Apple Watch

So before I buy an Apple Watch with gps and cellular do you need to have a plan with your phone carrier that allows you to use cellular data when using the watch?

Yes. I have a Cellular Watch and I pay AT&T an extra $10/ month , plus applicable taxes.
