I am having the issue of only getting sound out of my left AirPod

I have the airpods gen 1 and I am having the issue of only getting sound out of my left airpod.My airpods were never damaged nor did they ever get dirty.I tried to reset them and then reconnect them but it didn't work.When I go to my bluetooth settings and connect my airpods I only get sound from my left airpod.If I do eventually get them both to work after several attempts of resetting they both automatically disconnect after about 5 minutes.My audio settings also show only left airpod is connected.Please help me with my issue
