Move and/or copy files from Downloads to another folder

Do Macs not have a simple way to move and/or copy files that are in the downloads folder? I'm working on a 1 year old MacBook Pro.

On a PC, you can select one or multiple files in the downloads folder, right click and move and/or copy the files to any folder of choice. It's extremely fast and easy.

Am I missing something on the Mac? Surely they don't expect people to open two finder windows to drag and drop.

I just drag them over a folder on the sidebar and it opens. I keep going until I get to where I need.

You can also just copy them, then cmd-opt-v to move.
