Buying any Apple Watch outside your country may have issues:

• The different Cellular radios in different models is one
• Warranty is country specific
• ECG must be government approved by the selling country and the country where used.
• Some countries require the seller to block specific features in their product and it cannot be enabled by taking the product outside their country.

Bob, there are only two models of the Apple Watch GPS+Cellular as far as cellular usage, US, Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico and the rest of the world. Unlike the iPhone the warranty is region specific not country specific. Your third point is correct but I don't know of any features that would be blocked on the Watch by local governments.

If the OP cannot get the Apple Watch in the U.S. the OP might try for Dubai while flying home (which seems to be a very common stopping point on the way to India, based on the number of complaints about ECG not working in India for Dubai purchased Apple Watches).

Some countries (I know of Middle East) that force Apple to disable Facetime, and it does not activate when going to another country. Walkie-Talkie is a Facetime push-to-talk audio call.

With 200+ governments to deal with there is always some strange special case.

It is just better to buy the Apple Watch in the country it is going to be used, or at least know what possible limitations the buyer may run into.

I don't think the FaceTime restriction is affecting the Watch if the iPhone used is not impacted by it.

As I said ECG is affected by country.

For those unconcerned with ECG a GPS+Cellular Watch purchased in Singapore is the same as one purchased in Denmark or India.

No a cellular watch from the USA will NOT work in India,apart from the cellular everything else will work fine.What about buying the watch in India?.
