Probelm in pairing iwatch with iphone6

I have purchased iwatch series 3 but while pairing with iphone 6,message appears that cant connect, iphone is not updated. Please update your iphone to IOS. But while updating on iphone 6 version 12.4 is shown for update. Please help how can i connect to iwatch.
