I bought a new iMac September 13, 2019 but I’m not seeing the offer for the free year of Apple TV+ in the Apple TV app. I’m running macOS 10.15.1, build 19B88. I’ve followed the directions available to me to no avail. How do I get my Apple TV+ subscription going?

Same issue here. Purchased new iMac on 10/23 and upgraded to Catalina but I can't activate the free 1 year subscription. I spent a few hours on the phone with AppleCare and they transferred me around but were not able to fix this. I eventually gave up while waiting in hold. Frustrating.
It's a roll out thing i think. It's not ready for all the people at the same time. Probably during the week will appear. In my case ( i live in Portugal) i talked with apple support and the answer i received was that during the next days should appear ( the exact word was in Portugal everything starts appearing a bit later )
I emailed them last night and just got the activation code with the same deal—1 year and 7 days of Apple TV+.
According to this article (https://www.macrumors.com/2019/11/04/apple-tv-redeem-codes-1-year-free-trial/), I submitted a request to iTunes support; we’ll see what happens.
UPDATE: I called Apple support again and they connected with an iTunes advisor. She gave me an activation code which enabled the subscription. I now have 1 year plus 7 days free.
