I have a new iPhone with my latest Apple ID. At the store they deleted my old Apple ID as required but they were supposed to have merged my photos. Unfortunately the photos aren’t there. When I log onto iCloud photos from google they are there but how can I get them off the cloud and onto my new phone without setting up the old Apple ID again.

There really is no way to do this automatically or easily.
Photos are tied to an Apple IUD. To move them to another Apple ID, you must download them to a non-iCloud location first and then upload them to your new Apple ID.
It sounds like you switched Apple IDs as part of this phone switch.

Thank you so much for your response. I have managed to suss it but like you say not the easiest as you can only save a few at a time.
i have to download from iCloud onto a zip file that saves in iCloud Drive on my phone then open and save as images 👍😁
just so happy I haven’t lost them as photos of my late Father 💗💕
