I did the most recent update on my phone and i have a iPhone 7 and my battery does so fast now. I can have my phone just sitting there and the battery is dying. Nothing is running for my battery to do that fast. I have to have it plugged in all the time.

Your battery has already reached the critical point of its life, and could have unpredictable behaviours.
Make a full backup of your iphone (before the battery suddendly dies), and have it replaced at an Apple Store or Authorized Service Provider.
