Iphone disabled

My iphone has been fully disabled but Im wondering if my phone can still connect to the internet so that my icloud can be backed up

If you forgot the passcode for your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, or your device is disabled - Apple Support

See if you can un-disable it. If not ... backups must occur before catastrophes. After a catastrophe, it's too late.
