Maps App loads on Mac, No map displayed

Opened Maps for the first time under Catalina 10.15. Maps is Version 2.1 (2439.20.8.15.13)

I have a lovely cream screen, no map. Ok, I thought. Go to Current Location. Cream screen, no map. So I searched for a place I know. London. Cream screen, no map.

Odd, I thought. Out of amusement I asked for directions from Trafalgar Square to Glasgow Airport. Cream screen, no map, but directions in sidebar. And, when I chose Public Transport it showed me two buses on diversion!

All ideas received with gratitude. Well, not "Don't start in Trafalgar Square" which would just be silly 👀

It isn't a zoom issue, or, rather, zooming on or out does nothing
