Help! My reminders automatically indent to other reminders whenever I sort them on macOS Catalina

Reminders keeps on indenting the reminder I'm trying to sort. Is this a setting? or is it part of the OS? If so, how would I sort my reminders without them being automatically indenting?

Funny, I have the opposite problem. No matter what I do I can't get my Reminders to indent. Dragging them on top of each other doesn't work, nor using the shortcuts; the options to indent and outdent appear grayed out in the Edit menu. I also find the UX rather clunky and unintuitive — having to drag reminders from the blank space to reorder them. It doesn't feel like an app made by Apple at all...

I think I have found the reason for this. Indented reminders seem to work fine when viewing the specific list where they are defined, but not when viewing the auto filtered lists ("Today", "Scheduled", "All" and "Flagged").

Try looking at the reminder by selecting the list that you have defined and listed it under, e.g., "Groceries", "Homework" etc. Sublists, indents, outdents, drag-and-drop to indent etc. should all work as expected in Catalina.

Hopefully Apple will make the auto filtered views work in the same way as the native lists.

I am currently running 10.15.1 - not sure if this works with earlier versions...

I actually had a call with support regarding this and after some various testing we found that for some reason the subtask (i.e. indent) option on macOS is only available when Reminders is connected to iCloud. It also allows the option to flag items which was not available when I just had Reminders disconnected from iCloud (i.e. only saved on my Mac). I know this is odd and not ideal but thought I'd share the findings.
