Catalina Partition 28gb

Firstly, let me apologise. I'm a newbie to apple computing, I'm sure I will be asking stupid questions. I along with lots of others have just updated to Catalina, HOWEVER, I have somehow managed to install it on a 28gb partition which I am unable to move my 500gb of data from my Time Machine to (obviously). I am looking to either format the hd and start afresh with a clean install or merge any and all partitions on my HD.

I would appreciate any advice, as a newbie lots of hand holding through the process would be greatly appreciated.

Can you boot into Internet Recovery - About macOS Recovery - Apple Support? If you can, click on Utilities -> Terminal, and post the output of

diskutil list

Loner you were right, the drive was fractured. Once I had corrected this I merely did a backup restore and I am all good now.

Can you post the output of

diskutil list

when you have access to the iMac? Also, confirm the year/model of the iMac.

Based on your screen shot, your iMac should have a Fusion drive. It is currently split. If you have Time Machine backup of all your data, we can rebuild the Fusion drive in Internet Recovery.
