Someone sent me a word docx that I couldn't open. I used text edit to open it but after that it turned ALL my documents into text edits. I tried a few things in preferences but no luck so far. Suggestions?
I have MacOS Mojave.

Select (highlight) one of the files in Finder; then use the Finder File menu > Get Info (or command I) to open an Info window; scroll down to the "Open With" section, change it to Word and click Change All.

No that didn't work. It asked me if I wanted to change all docs and I hit continue but they are still in text edit.
Try restarting your Mac after using the previously posted instructions.
