I have an iPhone 6, which is up to date on iOS12 (won't take 13). My series 3 Apple Watch will not update. Software update keeps telling me to update the software on my phone, but it is already up to date. I tried cold restart, also Restore, then Restore from backup. I still get the same message.

watchOS 6 requires an iPhone running iOS 13, and iOS 13 requires an iPhone 6s, SE, 7, 8, X, XS, XR, 11 or 11 Pro
Your Apple Watch Series 3 will continue to work today just like yesterday.
If sometime in the future you decided to replace you iPhone with a newer model, you can upgrade your Apple Watch.
Or if you really must have watchOS 6, you could consider getting a used iPhone 6s, that would allow you to upgrade to iOS 13 and then to watchOS 6.
