I downloaded a photo from suspicious sender on WhatsApp , and now I am scared if this sender hacked my phone.
how can I know if the phone is hacked ? And what the next thing should i do to stop hacking?

Yes, jailbreaking requires quite a bit of time to do, and changes the Operating System thus removing the excellent security that is built into Apple iOS.
As stated above downloading a picture does not harm the phone.
Unless you have previously jailbroken your phone, it can not be hacked by downloading a photo.

What I understood from this article is the "jailbreaking" is introducing a new operating system to my iphone other than iOS , and that is the reason of making it easier to hack the iphone?
since I didn't enter any operating system to my phone , that mean I am safe, right?
