My voicemail app on my XS is not working it’s saying Error performing request Unknown Error

Thank you for posting in the Apple Support Communities. It sounds like you’re seeing an error when accessing voicemail on your iPhone. I’d love to share some information with you that should help. 


First, be sure you’re taking these steps to check your voicemail using the Phone app: Check your voicemail on iPhone


Next, connect your device to another reliable network, then try accessing voicemail again. 


Lastly, I recommend taking steps 1-3 here: If an app unexpectedly quits, stops responding, or won’t open. Forcing the Phone app to close, restarting your device, and checking for an iOS update often resolves many unique issues. In addition to making sure your device is fully updated, I also recommend checking for a carrier settings update: Update your carrier settings on your iPhone or iPad
