transfer data to new iMac

I am transferring my all the info on my old iMac onto a new one using migration assistant. Can I just leave the process to run overnight? It may end hours before I awake tomorrow morning, can anything go wrong because of it having to wait when the process ends?

You can just let it run. The fastest and easiest way to transfer is from your Time Machine backup connected directly to the new Mac.
