how to create a password for a folder saved on the Mac book air ? I do have a password to log in to the Mac . But also looking for a password to secure my Folder/Files.

Hi,

You can password protect folders with using DiskUtility, though it's a passive protection.


Click Command + Shift + A to open the Applications folder. Open the Utilities folder within Applications.

Open Disk Utility. Click File.

Select New Image.

Select Image from Folder.

Select the folder you wish to protect and click Open.

Name the locked disk image and click Save.

Click Done.


If you need active protection, you need to find third party utility.
